Welp. My car had a misfire this morning after dropping my son off at daycare. I’ve driven it 32 miles since picking it up from the shop after the engine rebuild. No hard driving or anything...

I was accelerating away from a light under 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, and the CEL started flashing at about 45 mph @ 4k RPM or so. Thankfully I was running BTSsm at the time, so I saw it throw a couple knock events. I pulled over and checked the logs and tried to pull the CEL codes. Guess what? No codes! Obviously I didn’t want to drive it since it was idling rough, so I had it towed to the shop that did the engine swap. After talking with them for a bit we all agree it’s probably something simple like a cracked igniter coil boot that just wiggled its way off since the car was sitting for so long. That or a cracked vacuum hose. Fingers crossed...

That just sucks, you’ve had it back for what, a day?

I love what you did with the car, and I admire it, but these little issues are the reason why I buy and drive new cars every 3 years or so. I had a less than reliable 1991 SHO and ever since that car, I haven’t had the guts to go old.

I got it back at 11:30 AM yesterday, so not even a day. :P Got to drive it for all of 32 miles. ::sigh::

Good luck with the repair, I hope it is something simple, quick and cheap.

I drove my 16 Forester XT this morning to work - we might get rain and I don’t drive the Abarth when it rains :D.

Yeah, I think our next car will be only a couple years old when we buy it instead of 6!

I would think that its just a coilpack

Recently I put a motor in an 03 wrx and at first start it idled rough, with a misfire swapped coils with the old motor and it was fixed.

That’s what I’m hoping and praying that it is...

You win the award! Bad coilpack it is. All is well in the world again!
